This ICT Hall of Fame award is given to a BPO company that has received an award in a particular category for three times in the awards’ history. In 2014, the ICT Hall of Fame was given to Convergys Philippines for having been Best BPO Employer for three times in the awards’ history: 2007, 2009, and 2012.
The International ICT Awards is held annually to recognize corporate and individual contributions for the promotion of the Philippines’ IT and business process management industry. The awards introduced the Hall of Fame in 2014 to recognize an organization that has won in any category for at least three times. Convergys was the first to be inducted to Hall of Fame status as Best Employer. This recognizes Convergys’ consistent excellence in strategic HR leadership and management, HR competencies, practices, policies and performance throughout the years.
The company has also won Best Company of the Year twice in the awards’ history.
Hope is what we can instill in every Filipino student. By giving a Bag of Hope filled with school supplies, we know we can remove one barrier to a child’s education. Our mission in Convergys is to improve the quality of life in the communities where we live and work.
In 2015, Convergys marked another milestone with the first #GiveaBagofHope campaign.
While changing the lives of others, we were also transformed. In our mission to empower dreams, we were also reminded of our own.
Giving 17, 123 bags is just the beginning. Thank you for joining us in our mission. Let's empower more dreams.

Top contact center and Philippines’ largest private employer Convergys clinched a Silver Anvil Award for its Give a Bag of Hope (#GiveABagOfHope) campaign under the Specialized Public Relations-Advocacy Campaign category.
In ceremonies held at Makati Shangri-La Hotel recently, Convergys was conferred by the Public Relations Society of the Philippines (PRSP) with the award in recognition of its nationwide employee-driven campaign which saw Convergys employees donate 17,123 “bags of hope” containing hundreds of thousands of school supplies to Grades 1-3 pupils in 26 public schools and communities nationwide.
“We believe that education is a great equalizer – a means for people to have a chance at realizing their dreams and for inclusive growth to be a Philippine reality. But a lot of students drop out even before finishing elementary education, and one of the main reasons is the lack of school supplies. This challenge is what Give a Bag of Hope aimed to address. We are proud that our employees came together to make a difference in the lives of the Filipino youth by empowering their dreams and hope for a brighter future,” said Convergys Philippines Senior VP and Country Manager Ivic Mueco.
Launched in May through July, the three-month campaign generated Php 8.21 Million from Convergys employees in 34 sites. Using a grassroots, localized approach, each Convergys Philippines site partnered with a public elementary school, many of which were already previous site partners under the company’s corporate social responsibility program – Convergys Community Action Network.
Being entirely employee-driven, Convergys employees donated in three ways: monetary pledge, donation of actual school supplies, or employee referral, where every new hire from employee referral resulted in a bag of hope donated in the employee’s as well as new hire’s name. Convergys employees also spent 8,450 volunteer hours to visit partner schools in Baguio, Pampanga, Bulacan, Metro Manila, Laguna, Cebu, Bacolod, and Davao to distribute their donated ‘bags of hope’ to schoolchildren.
“We are honored to be recognized by the PRSP for this campaign. It is a testament to our shared commitment to sustain Give A Bag of Hope and similar philanthropic efforts driven by our employees to build stronger and better communities where we live and work. ‘Serving The Community’ is one of our company Values demonstrated by our employees across the country,” Mueco added.
A symbol of public relations excellence, the Anvil is an award given by a multi-sectoral jury to outstanding public relations programs and tools in the Philippines. It is conducted annually by the Public Relations Society of the Philippines (PRSP). The Silver Anvil Award is conferred on an outstanding program or tool that meets the high standards set in its specific category.

Manila, Philippines— Convergys Philippines kicks-off its “Give A Bag Of Hope 2” campaign after a highly successful run in 2015—this time with the added value of books as part of the supplies given to school children to help improve literacy.
The campaign is fully employee-driven, where employees donate bags filled with school supplies, and volunteer hours to distribute them to public school Grades 1 to 3 pupils. In its first run in 2015, almost 22,000 kids in 26 schools and communities were given bags of hope, all thanks to an overwhelming number of employee contributions across the company’s 34 sites in the country.
Poverty still counts as the main reason why elementary school children drop out of school. A local study on the Philippine educational system says that an average student would spend about P900 to purchase school supplies, which accounts for the second highest expense next to transportation.
“Our goal is to ease the drop out problem and give kids a fighting chance at continuing their education. We are grateful to our employees for demonstrating the Convergys Value of ‘Serving The Community’ and making the campaign a success last year. This year, we’re adding books as part of the supplies that our employees will donate,” said Ivic Mueco, Senior Vice President and Country Manager of Convergys Philippines.
In the Give A Bag of Hope 2 internal launch this May, Chief Operating Officer Marge Connelly visited and joined the leadership team at its Philippines headquarters in Makati. “Our desire is to bring positive change to the communities where we live and work, and to help open windows of opportunities by removing one barrier at a time,” she said.
She added, “We that today, in each of our communities, there are children who still cannot functionally read or write. This means that despite having the tools to jumpstart their education, they might not be able to fully take advantage of them.”
This key learning urged Convergys to aim for a bigger goal this year—helping lay the foundations of reading literacy, by including an Adarna book in every ‘Bag of Hope,’ and a storytelling session to be conducted by Convergys employees when they visit partner schools. Adarna House, Inc., is the Philippines’ leading creative house and publisher of children’s books founded by National Artist Virgilio Almario.
Convergys Country Manager Ivic Mueco attributes the success of the program to effective employee engagement, as the company aims to surpass last year’s results. Those who wish to participate can donate several ways: aside from a monetary pledge and actual donation of school supplies, each successful referral also results to a bag of hope donated in the employee’s name.
Convergys brand ambassador
During the campaign’s launch, Convergys also revealed its new brand ambassador: Alden Richards. The multimedia star, who is half of the popular loveteam AlDub, is now the company’s official brand ambassador and is also set to participate in one of the Give A Bag of Hope school visits this year.
In closing, Country Manager Ivic Mueco shared, “Alden epitomizes the qualities that drive Convergys and its employees to succeed: commitment, perseverance, and hardwork. We are proud to have him as the face of Convergys’ story and he is just as excited as we are for the Give A Bag of Hope 2 Campaign.”
